Youri Tielemans to Leicester City is a story which built strongly in the French media on Monday.
Therefore it’s no surprise L’Equipe have a detailed article on the situation.
In their Tuesday edition, the French newspaper explain that Leonardo Jardim doesn’t count on the player.
Last summer, the manager had been annoyed that Joao Moutinho was allowed to join Wolves, because Jardim felt he was a superior option to the Belgian midfielder.
Jardim then left, Thierry Henry took over, the club continued sliding, the former Arsenal player was sacked, and Jardim is now back.
L’Equipe make clear that Tielemans isn’t in his plans.
Therefore, a move to the Premier League could happen, with it being explained AS Monaco would prefer a loan move. That’s because they’re aware their player’s value isn’t at its peak right now, and he needs his brand rebuilding.
Tielemans’ ‘lack of confidence’ is said to ‘undermine him’.
Newcastle are said to be ready to invest €27m, but that’s hard to believe and doesn’t fit the loan idea.
L’Equipe state Leicester City are thought to be best placed, and Jorge Mendes is working on some kind of exchange involving Adrien Silva, who Jardim likes.
That would possibly be a loan exchange.
Belgian newspaper HLN also cover the situation, although their claims are pretty much just what was said in England and France on Monday.
Another Belgian newspaper, Het Nieuwsblad, have a big article on the situation, and they present Leicester as the most realistic option.
They reiterate the idea of loose interest from Manchester United, Barcelona and AC Milan but that seems more of an agent play at this stage.
Even Het Nieuwsblad accept those clubs aren’t ‘concrete’ with any interest at this stage.
