Rangers secured a comfortable 4-0 win over FCSB in the Europa League at Ibrox on Thursday evening. Philippe Clement’s side were able to bounce back after last weekend’s league loss to Kilmarnock.

Tom Lawrence opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Vaclav Cerny doubled the lead at the half hour mark. The latter got his name on the scoresheet again in the second half before Hamza Igamane scored the fourth goal for Rangers in the 71st minute.

FCSB owner George Becali is furious with his side’s performance against Rangers. Earlier today, he gave an interview to Fanatik in Romania, where he didn’t hold back with his criticism.

The Romanian club’s owner was raging with midfielders Luis Phelipe and Malcom Edjouma for their displays against Rangers yesterday.

Edjouma was replaced in the second half and the FCSB owner has pinned the blame on him for conceding two goals to Philippe Clement’s side.

“In a way, I think it’s good for Edjouma to understand what football means. They think they deserve to play, that they are footballers, but let them see what football means. That matters in a way,” he said.

“Football is not quite as easy as you think that you play with the ball, and you walk with the ball in the centre of the field, and you don’t have any problem. That you take it, and you spin with it.

“You don’t go to football to spin the ball yourself. I liked Baba [Alhassan, FCSB player], he played well, but so many times I told him: ‘Guys, stop having fun with the ball in the middle of the field. Look at modern football, look at the big teams, step, step, step, step’. Pass, don’t turn it back because you’re not Maradona to turn it back.

“Look, the first two goals are because of Edjouma. He heads the ball that was going out in the outfield and passes it to the opponent.”

The 23-year-old Brazilian started as an attacking midfielder against Rangers and Becali believes he’s still lacking the physicality to compete at a top level in Europe.

“The second goal, Luis Phelipe. Well, he thinks that… What, are you Brazilian? Well, do you think it goes like this, that you dribble? Who lets you dribble,” Becali explained.

“First of all, so that you can dribble, that you have technique, put 2-3 [kgs] more muscles on you so that he can come, give shoulder, push and take the ball.”

“If you are an ant, do you want to dribble the elephant? You are an ant. Go and train an extra 2-3 hours a day at the gym and put on some muscle.”
