Being loaned out to a smaller club when you’re young and at one of the top clubs in the Premier League is a gamble: it might be hugely beneficial, or chances might be extremely limited.
In the case of Manchester City’s David Faupala, it was unfortunately the latter of the two, and NAC Breda in Holland have announced the 19-year-old’s loan deal has been cut short and the youngster will return to the north of England.

During his time with the Eredivisie side, the France U18 international only made four appearances, totalling 186 minutes with the first team, including a start against SC Cambuur in which he scored his side’s only goal in a 3-1 loss.
Signed from RC Lens back in 2015 on a free transfer, Faupala showed a lot of promise, even earning himself a call up to the first-team under Manuel Pellegrini last season, playing the full 90 minutes in a 5-1 FA Cup loss to Chelsea, once again scoring his team’s only goal of the game.
L’Equipe on Tuesday reported that despite the youngster’s loan being cut short, the likelihood of him getting a chance at Manchester City during the second half of the season remain slim, meaning that he could be loaned out once again.
Hopefully for him, he’ll get to go to a club that are keen on using him regularly this time around.
