Newcastle United youngster Yankuba Minteh has made it clear he wants to be playing for the Magpies sooner rather than later, with the Premier League his absolute top priority.

The winger has been speaking to Voetbal International, relayed by 1908.nl, where he’s made it clear that despite enjoying his time at Feyenoord this season, Newcastle is very much where he wants to be.

Minteh joined Newcastle in an €8m deal from Odense in the summer but was immediately loaned out to Dutch champions Feyenoord for the season to continue his development and establish himself in Europe.

He’s managed to do that, becoming a key member of Arne Slot’s side across this campaign and getting the playing time that Newcastle had wanted for him.

The loan deal expires in the summer and Slot has already made it clear he wants to keep the player next season if he can, even going as far as to claim another year out on loan would be best for his development.

Minteh appears to be open to that idea if Newcastle want it, but has made it clear the Magpies and Premier League are his ultimate aim either way.

“Ultimately the Premier League is my goal and Newcastle United is the club that has a lot of confidence in me,” he said.

“I have no idea what the future looks like. I was in Newcastle once, when they played against Borussia Dortmund. I will hear soon what plans the club has for me.

“I’m still young, I have time, maybe they want to rent me out again. I don’t know yet, I’ll hear about it, I’ll let everything happen to me. I know only that one day I will play in the Premier League.”
