Earlier this month, Mexican side Tigres agreed a deal with Arsenal for the transfer of Marcelo Flores.

The Gunners, who never gave the player a chance to make his debut for the club, accepted just €815k to let him go on a permanent move.

There’s big coverage of Flores’ arrival in Mexico, and speaking to TUDN (via Marca) this week, he explained a bit of his game.

The 19-year-old was questioned about players he’s inspired by, and he claimed that’s different to the ones he actually has similarities to, mentioning a couple of former Chelsea and Liverpool players.

“When I was a kid my idol was Ronaldinho, then Messi. Every player is different, but I think I have more things from Coutinho and Hazard because of my agility, the way I move the ball. I watch a lot of videos of them and I loved to see them in their prime,” Marcelo Florest told TUDN.

Flores was born in Canada, but has Mexican heritage and already has a couple of caps for the Latin American side.

The player was still very young when he went to England, having first played for Ipswich Town’s academy, and joining Arsenal in 2019.

With no chance to play for the Gunners, he was loaned out to Real Oviedo last year, and quickly after his return ended up agreeing his permanent departure from the Emirates.
