Kayky’s transfer to Manchester City is happening sooner than expected.
Even though the agreement between Fluminense and the Premier League side was for a January move, the winger has now rescinded his contract with the Brazilian club and will soon be on his way to England.
On their website last night, the Rio de Janeiro side released a statement explaining the situation.
“Due to the excellent relationship between Fluminense and Manchester City, forward Kayky had his contract early terminated for the start of the athlete’s development in England.
“As Tricolor maintains a percentage on the player’s future sale and bonus rights to be achieved by the athlete when he is at the English club, the two parties chose to anticipate Kayky’s departure by three months.”
The website recalls that Manchester City are spending €10m to sign the teenager, with other performance bonuses to be added. This deal was made along with one for midfielder Metinho, who also left Fluminense for the English side this summer, and was immediately sent out to Troyes on loan.
It’s still not clear if Kayky will work with Pep Guardiola now or if he’s going somewhere else as well.
