On Tuesday morning, Portuguese newspapers came up with quotes from former Reading striker Danny Namaso speaking of his transfer to Porto.
He was quoted claiming it was an easy decision when the Dragons showed up for his signing, as they’re ‘one of the best’ clubs in Europe.
It turns out that outlet O Jogo now brings a few more sentences of the player’s interview with Betano.
Namaso was asked about spending eight years at Reading’s academy and having just eight games for the first team, and insist he’s happy with that experience.
“It was a very valuable experience. I was young, naive, inexperienced, but later we realised why we have to go through certain experiences,” said Namaso.
The 22-year-old was also asked if he misses England following his Reading departure, and he claims that despite having grown up in London, he’s completely adapted to Portugal.
“It’s hard to miss England when you live in Porto. To be honest, the only thing I miss is my family and friends, but I prefer living in Porto compared to London. I don’t miss the weather, yet, even though I was born there.”
Namaso also discussed his time in Porto, explaining he has a completely different life to what he used to have in England.
“It’s very peaceful. Coming from London, a very busy city, to here, it’s very peaceful. I live in Gaia, it’s peaceful and cinematic. We have the beach, it’s everything we need. The people are fantastic, very friendly.”
In his first season with Porto’s first team, the striker has five goals and four assists in 29 appearances, and is still fighting to gain a place as the main striker in the team. After joining the club for free in 2020, he’s now seen as a very positive signing.
