Crystal Palace currently find themselves 13th in the Premier League, a place higher than where they finished last season.
The Eagles don’t look to be in any serious danger of relegation, and things are going relatively well under manager Patrick Vieira. Taking over at the London club in July of last year, the Frenchman has kept the outlook calm at Palace, following the departure of Roy Hodgson.
He wasn’t the only option Crystal Palace had when they were looking for a new manager, and it’s probably not inaccurate to say he wasn’t the club’s first choice for the position.
Multiple options were linked ahead of Vieira getting the job, and Lucien Favre was one of those.
Speaking to Corriere del Ticino at the weekend, the Swiss manager was asked outright if it’s true he received a ‘tempting offer’ from Crystal Palace last summer.
Replying to the question, Favre confirmed it: “Yes, that’s right, but the timing wasn’t right.”
He’s currently out of work and looking to get back on the bench in the coming months.
