Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has admitted he is aware of rumours linking him with a move to Atlético Madrid this summer.
The Brazilian only arrived at Tottenham last summer, signing in a £22.5m deal from Barcelona when the Catalans moved to sell him just a month after his return from Real Betis.
He initially struggled in London but has since established himself as a key player under Antonio Conte, flourishing in his wing-back system.
He’s very much an established player under the Italian, and that is unlikely to change any time soon, particularly if his performances continue to be at the level expected.
Those fine displays have led to the inevitable transfer rumours, though, with the latest suggesting Atlético Madrid are eyeing up a deal as they search for Kieran Trippier’s long-term replacement.
And it seems those rumours have even reached the player, although he insists that his focus is fully on Spurs.
“Yes, it has reached me that Atletico has been interested in me,” he told Cadena SER.
“But now I’m in a good moment at Tottenham; I don’t know what will happen in the future. I like that teams are watching my football.”
