Now that the January transfer window is upon us, prepare yourself for a Daily Emre Can from the Italian media, especially since he hasn’t renewed his Liverpool contract.
Free to talk to Juventus from the 3rd of January onwards, the Germany international is expected to agree a deal with Juventus for a move in June, but Corriere dello Sport reckon there’s still a chance of him moving in the coming weeks.
The Italian newspaper explain that in order to do that, they’d have to make their interest in the player officially known to Liverpool by putting forward a ‘minimal bid’ of around €5-6m, which they consider ‘fair compensation’, for a transfer who would only be able to play in the league if he moved during the current window.
Of course, that doesn’t entirely depend on the Italian side, as any move in the winter transfer window would have to be allowed by the Reds, which seems unlikely.
Gatecrashing Corriere’s party are Tuttosport, who, despite giving us a cheesy ‘Juve, Yes You Can’ headline, explain there’s little chance of Jürgen Klopp and co. saying yes to a January offer, as they know selling two of their stars (Coutinho to Barcelona being the other one) midway through the season wouldn’t ‘go down well’ on Merseyside.
At this moment in time, both newspapers are still leaning towards a free transfer in June, even if there’s hope, by some miracle, something could happen soon.
