Feyenoord’s Santiago Giménez has hinted he would be very open to joining Liverpool by expressing his desire to work with Arne Slot again.

The Mexico international talked about this during an interview with Fox Sports, and Soccer News have relayed his comments.

Giménez joined the Eredivisie side from Cruz Azul in July 2022 when the current Liverpool manager was in charge at the club.

The striker played 85 games under Arne Slot’s orders for Feyenoord, scoring 49 goals and registering 11 assists in the process.

His performances for the Dutch club attracted Nottingham Forest’s interest and they made an offer last summer. The frontman snubbed Nuno Espírito Santo’s side with the hope of joining what he perceived to be a bigger club in the future.

Arne Slot left the Dutch club for Liverpool last summer and Fox Sports asked Giménez if he expects to reunite with his former manager in the future.

Responding to that, he said: “Yes, absolutely. Football is always about meeting the same familiar faces again and that is the beauty of this world. You leave an impression, make friends all over the world, and later you see each other again, greet each other and meet again.”

The report claims it’s not clear as of now whether the Premier League leaders are keen on signing him. The Feyenoord star, for his part, has set his sights on making a move to a top league in the near future.

“Since I was a kid, I always wanted to play in one of the top five leagues in the world and one of those leagues is Spain, England or Italy,” Giménez explained.

The Mexican has managed 10 goals and three assists from 14 games this season. It would appear he’s dropping Liverpool hints in the hope of catching Slot’s attention.
