Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has admitted he would like to join Paris Saint Germain, if they were to ever make a move for him.
The Argentina goalkeeper has established himself as one of the best number ones in world football over the last few years, first shining in a six month spell with Arsenal before moving to Aston Villa.
He’s continued to impress there, establishing himself as their number one and the first-choice for his country.
It is on the international stage where he has really shone, first playing a key role in their win in the Copa America before being the star of the show in the World Cup final in Qatar,
saving two of France’s penalties to ensure his side walked away with the trophy.
His performances for Aston Villa and Argentina have not gone unnoticed, with several reports making it clear that there are clubs in Europe keeping an eye on them.
That led L’Equipe to asking him whether he would be interested in a move to PSG, and the Villa goalkeeper was more than open at the idea.
“I want to win the Champions League,” he told the newspaper.
“I would like to do it with Aston Villa, but it won’t be easy because the club is still in the development phase. I won the best title there is with the selection and I am aiming for the most important club.
“I would love to win a title with Aston Villa. But it’s complicated… I have the feeling that today I have the level to play in the Champions League and try to win it.
“I considered several times to come and play in L1, being younger. PSG is a big club with great players. Who wouldn’t like to play there?”
