Tottenham Hotspur’s Alejo Véliz has been asked to consider a move to Leicester City.
That’s come from Leicester’s Facundo Buonanotte, and he mentioned the Spurs man during a chat with Sportscenter, relayed by Olé.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder joined Leicester on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer window, while the Tottenham striker is currently on loan at Espanyol.
Buonanotte and Véliz played together at Rosario Central as the duo graduated from the Argentine club’s youth system. The Leicester man left them to join the Seagulls in January 2023, 18 months before the 21-year-old striker joined Tottenham.
The Argentine teenager believes his compatriot can benefit from playing and training with Jamie Vardy at Leicester.
“I would tell Tanque [Alejo] Véliz to come here to learn from Jamie Vardy. He is on loan but now he is at Tottenham, so I think he knows about this. During the time we were at Central we made a nice duo,” he said.
Véliz has struggled for regular minutes at Spurs and was sent out on loan to Sevilla and Espanyol this year, where he failed to impress.
The South American’s struggles at Espanyol have seen recent claims from Spain report that they could cut short his loan stay in January.
If he were to return to Tottenham, both Ange Postecoglou and Spurs will have to make a decision on Véliz.
