For weeks, the Portuguese media have maintained confidence that Sporting will be able to secure a deal for Chiquinho this summer.
There was a mention of Wolves not wanting to repeat what happened with Pedro Goncalves, when he left for Sporting and became a great player, but it wasn’t thought that would kill the deal.
Gary O’Neil was said to want to have a look at Chqiuinho in pre-season, just to make sure the club were set to make the correct decision.
Now things are changing a little.
Sunday’s edition of Record points out that that Chiquinho is being used in pre-season and played 60 minutes against Bristol City. They say that’s positive for the player… but not for Sporting’s chances of signing him.
Wolves and Sporting remain in talks with O’Neil’s verdict said to be ‘decisive’. The Premier League club are set to travel to the US next week and if Chiquinho is on the plane then the worry around Sporting’s chances will grow.
