Last summer, Tottenham planned for the future with the transfer of Destiny Udogie, signing the young left-back from Udinese before sending him back to the Serie A side for the season.

The aim was for him to get a lot of game time, which he has done, but with the season nearing its end, there is now talk of him being distracted by the prospect of being a full-time Spurs player.

This is what journalist Lorenzo Petiziol told Voce Giallorossa on Sunday when asked about the reasons behind Udogie not being called up by Roberto Mancini to date in the Italy national team despite being one of the more promising youngsters available to the manager.

After saying that he felt his time will come and praising the player for often being a deciding factor for Udinese, he went on to touch about the transfer to Tottenham and the player’s current state of mind.

He said: “It’s no coincidence that Tottenham have already bought him. At the moment, however, his head seems a bit halfway between Tottenham and Udinese. I don’t know if that’s subconsciously or consciously, knowing that he’s already at Tottenham, but sometimes, it seems like he takes his foot off.”

Petiziol then recalls the Tottenham man was recently involved in a car crash, colliding with the outside of a bar, smashing some tables and chairs, which also led to some nearby cars being damaged in the process.

This shows that he’s ‘not very mature yet’, and certainly needs to quickly change before going to a different, and perhaps more demanding, environment in London.

Still, the last words remained praise, as the Spurs defender was described as a ‘very strong player with many qualities’.
