After announcing the signings of both Ander Herrera and Pablo Sarabia, there has been talk of Paris Saint-Germain going after a third midfielder in Raphael Guerreiro.
The Portugal international has been a long-term target for the Ligue 1 side, interested in his services since before his move to Borussia Dortmund, and with Thomas Tuchel now in charge, it’s returned more than ever.
However, Le Parisien believe there could be some competition from Manchester City for Guerreiro’s signature, as Pep Guardiola ‘appreciates the qualities’ of the former Lorient star.
It’s claimed the Cityzens are ‘also interested’ in the former left-back, but it’s as a midfielder that their Spanish manager has plans for the player.
They say Guardiola is already planning the post-David Silva era, as the world class playmaker announced he would leave at the end of next season.
Le Parisien believe it would take a fee of around €20-25m to convince Borussia Dortmund to part ways with their player.
While it’s as a midfielder that Guardiola wants Guerreiro, there’s no denying his ability to play left-back will also be of interest, especially with Benjamin Mendy’s inability to stay fit for long periods of time these days.
Angeliño’s return will certainly help, as does Oleksandr Zinchenko signing a new deal, but you can never be too safe.
