While Liverpool appear to be on the verge of signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, the Argentine is not the only midfielder the Reds are planning to sign.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain the Anfield club ‘will not limit themselves to the signing’ of the World Cup winner when it comes to bolstering their squad.

This comes as part of an article looking at the future of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who is entering the final year of his contract with Lazio, although there is hope he will still renew after a €5m/year offer was made to him.

While they mention previous clubs that were interested, they add that Liverpool ‘should also be added to the list of possible destinations’ for the Serbia international, adding an extra worry for the Italians.

That’s because the Reds plan to give Jürgen Klopp more than one midfielder in the next transfer window, and they are looking for one ‘with physique, weight and sense of goal’.

Gazzetta feels this is Milinkovic-Savic in a nutshell, and that’s why, at €35-40m, he would be the ideal man to make Liverpool’s middle of the pitch stronger.

The Serbian has been once again in fine form for the Serie A side this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting another eight in 47 appearances in all competitions.
