Napoli’s change in manager didn’t do them much good at the weekend as they lost 2-1 to Parma at home.
The club’s midfield is being seen as weak by the Italian media, with good reason, and it’s assumed there needs to be an option brought in during the January market.
First choice for Napoli is Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira, and a deal worth a total of €30m has been offered, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. That all depends on the Gunners’ response, so Napoli have other options.
First up is 21 year old Sander Berge, and that’s where worry about Liverpool comes in.
Jurgen Klopp is known to be a fan of the Genk youngster, and Gazzetta say there’s a concern Liverpool ‘could offer a higher figure’ than the €20m Napoli would be prepared to pay. It’s even claimed this is the reason the Torreira effort has been made, due to worry about interest in Berge from Anfield.
The Norwegian may well be a player who Klopp likes, and there could be some level of interest, yet whether that would lead to an effort in the winter market remains to be seen.Should Napoli fail on both, then their third option is Sofyan Amrabat, currently on loan, with a buying option, at Hellas Verona from Club Brugge.
