Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos started Greece’s UEFA Nations League clash against Finland on Monday, but he did not appear in the second half and was replaced by Georgios Tzavellas.
According to Greek outlet Gazzetta. gr, the central defender ‘suffered a sprain’ and due to this reason his head coach Michael Skibbe took him off the pitch.
The clash ended in a 2-0 victory for Finland in front of their home supporters at the Ratinan Stadion and both the goals were scored after the Gunners player was replaced.
The report does not mention the extent of injury or how long Sokratis will be out of action.
He has started in six Premier League games for the north London club and since they conceded twice in the Europa League fixture on September 20th, his club or country haven’t conceded a goal whenever he’s been on the pitch.
Unai Emery will be hoping his player isn’t forced to spend on the timelines as Arsenal have five matches in less than two weeks after the international break.
