After starring in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, Bernardo Silva will now shift his focus on Portugal’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The attacking midfielder was absent from Portugal’s training session yesterday. On Tuesday, Record reported the 27-year-old was the only player not to train because he was suffering from ‘myalgia’.
The Republic of Ireland host Portugal on Thursday and Fernando Santos’ men are currently training in Dublin.
Silva was not spotted during the 15 minutes open training session on Wednesday, where journalists were allowed. That’s according to O Jogo, who say Pep Guardiola’s man was ‘once again missing’ and like Tuesday, he was the ‘only absentee’ today.
The expressions such as ‘myalgia’ and ‘muscle tiredness’ were used by the Portuguese Football Federation officials for Silva’s absence from yesterday’s session. The City player not being spotted today could be linked to the same reason.
If Silva continues to struggle with muscle pain, it could become a matter of worry for both Guardiola and City.
