Former Germany midfielder Thomas Berthold has told the German media Eintracht Frankfurt forward Haris Seferovic has his limitations. The Swiss international is expected to leave in the summer, and has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, and also Benfica.

Speaking to Fussball News, Berthold was asked if the return of Seferovic after a three-week absence will be beneficial to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The German said even though the player has been a key player for the Bundesliga side, he doesn’t think he will be the answer to their recent problems. Berthold highlighted the forward doesn’t have much pace, and has proven over the years he isn’t an out and out goalscorer.

“I don’t understand that. He has made a big impact. But he is not a sprinter, and he’s certainly not a goalscorer,” said the 1990 World Cup winner.

In recent days there have been claims in the British media Aston Villa could look to move in on Seferovic when his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt expires in the summer. Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce will be already looking to next season as they look to mount a challenge for promotion back to the Premier League.

However, Aston Villa will face competition from Benfica, with claims in Germany his likest destination will be the Portuguese giants.
