According to a claim in the Italian media, Chelsea could target CSKA Moscow forward Aleksandr Golovin if Maurizio Sarri is installed as the next manager at Stamford Bridge.
The Russia international has been one of the standout players in the opening games of this summer’s World Cup, which has brought him to the attention of other clubs.
TMW report Golovin could be a ‘goal’ for Chelsea in this transfer window, but the future of Antonio Conte needs to be dealt with. Conte is expected to leave the Premier League club this summer and be replaced by former Napoli boss Sarri.
It’s suggested Chelsea may target Golovin if Sarri is brought in, but face competition from Juventus. There have been recent reports the Russian is learning English.
The 22 year old impressed for CSKA Moscow in last season’s Europa League, and in particular in the two games against Arsenal. This led to reports the Gunners were interested in the player.
Golovin has carried this form into the World Cup and opened his scoring in the tournament against Saudi Arabia in the opening game.
Subsequently, he’s been linked with several clubs, but it all feels like excited speculation right now.
