Tottenham seemingly want to kill any potential transfer for Giovani Lo Celso this summer, and already working on a new deal for the Argentine.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say ‘work is underway’ on a new deal for the midfielder and ensure he is part of the future under Ange Postecoglou.
They explain that rather than gearing up for the midfielder to move away from Tottenham, the club are actually working to keep him.
They’ve made it clear that he’s a part of their plans moving forwards, despite not really featuring under Postecoglou this season, so negotiations could start soon over a renewal to his current deal, which expires in 2025.
The current idea is that Tottenham would add two more years to his current deal and adjust his salary to keep the World Cup winner happy.
The objective is to lock him down and kill off any transfer ideas this summer, with Barcelona still admirers and former club Real Betis having been linked with a move for months.
Whether he will accept remains to be seen and this could be a ploy from Spurs to ensure they don’t have to sell on the cheap this summer rather than actually having him in their plans moving forwards.
But it seems the proposal is on the cards either way and they’re working to ensure there is no transfer on the cards.
