Geovany Quenda might already be a Chelsea player but the Premier League club will continue to watch the winger during the remaining time he’s with Sporting CP.

Despite extensive links to Manchester United, it was announced that the 17-year-old would be joining the Blues in 2026.

After Chelsea and Sporting CP agreed on a transfer worth €51 million, Quenda put pen to paper over a seven-year deal and is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer of next year, staying at Sporting on loan until then.

Now Portuguese outlet O Bola has reported that Chelsea and the Liga Portugal side will work in tandem until he arrives in London to ensure that the teenager continues to develop well.

In fact, the outlet claims that “every match will be closely watched by Chelsea scouts” over the course of the next year. During this time, it’s thought that his salary will be paid equally by Sporting and Chelsea.

The attacker broke into Sporting’s first team only this season and made his Champions League debut in September.

Quenda will follow team-mate, the 20-year-old Dario Essugo who was also sold to Chelsea by Sporting, as part of a double deal.

The defensive midfielder could even feature for the Blues as part of the inaugural Fifa Club World Cup this summer in the United States.
