Manchester City are pointed out today as the favourite club to land the Flamengo wonderkid Reinier.

The news comes from Gustavo Henrique, a journalist who covers the Brazilian club and has been getting a lot of attention on Youtube lately.

He claims to have had a long chat with Mauro, Reinier’s dad, and a lot of things about the 17 year old’s future have been revealed in the conversation.

Reinier has previously been linked to Real Madrid, and according to Gustavo Henrique, the player’s dad considers Spain to be the best destination for him. However, there are no offers from La Liga.

That’s why it’s Manchester City who are said to be leading the race for him.

His father visited Manchester City’s facilities and was impressed with what he saw.

Mauro has claimed that despite the ‘big tendency’ of a Manchester City transfer, there isn’t an official bid yet. The situation is just said to be ‘well underway’.

It’s also claimed that Reinier himself has said that he’s not leaving Flamengo before he plays for the first team. That’s why according to his father, it’s more likely that he moves in June 2020.

Now let’s talk about Gustavo Henrique. He hasn’t the best reputation due to the many players he says are joining Flamengo and never make the move.

In this specific case, we think it’s quite unlikely that he would be simply be lying about quotes from Reinier and his father. Otherwise, he could be sued.

There are even some details which Reinier’s father would have said about how Pep Guardiola gets to work early, takes his children to the training centre, then stays late. So in case this is all false, the journalist should be considered the Brazilian J. K. Rowling.

Gustavo Henrique has also been getting some stick over the transfer of Gustavo Cuellar to West Ham United, which he claims to be currently blocked due to the lack of a work permit.

He mentions the Cuellar case in Reinier’s video, claiming that the situation is completely different, since the teenager has been a regular at Brazil’s U20 national team, and could get a visa more easily.
