Tottenham Hotspur may have waited too long to make an attempt to sign Andrea Pinamonti from Inter Milan.

It was claimed in January that Tottenham have had contact with the player’s agent to become aware of the possibilities of a move.

Knowing of the English interest, the Italian side are already working to keep Pinamonti at the club for a long time, according to Corriere Dello Sport today.

Inter Milan are reportedly working on a five-year deal, planning to have the striker wearing their shirt at least until 2022.

Although the club are said not to be in a panic to renew the player’s contract, they expect to have the issue sorted before Easter.

The plan is to get the youngster committed long term and push away interest from Tottenham and other clubs.

CapturarPinamonti is a highly rated prospect at the club, having made his professional debut at the age of seventeen in December. His league debut happened on Sunday, having played for 10 minutes during the 2-0 win against Empoli.

Mauricio Pochettino is known throughout Europe for being adept at bringing young talent through, which probably encouraged the Pinamonti links. However, there’s every chance Tottenham’s name has been used here to hurry Inter along, and it seems to have worked.

An all-round service from Pochettino and Spurs.
