Jefferson Lerma has insisted he is delighted at “wonderful” Crystal Palace after joining in the summer and “not worrying” about their current struggles.
The midfielder has been speaking to Gol Caracol in Colombia about his time at Selhurst Park so far and the Colombian national team.
He joined Crystal Palace on a free transfer in the summer when his Bournemouth contract came to an end, and has been a key player since his arrival.
Lerma moved to the Eagles after a five-year spell with Bournemouth that had seen him regularly battling relegation and bouncing between the Championship and the Premier League.
He had presumably been hoping for a step up with Crystal Palace but has again found himself in the wrong half of the table, with Roy Hodgson’s side 15th.
Indeed, Crystal Palace are currently one of the worst teams in the Premier League, with their form over the last five games putting them 19th, having lost four and drawn one.
That’s led to growing concern at the club and some consternation, but Lerma isn’t concerned by that and believes they will bounce back.
“These months have been wonderful, I am enjoying my stay here, with a lot of ambition for glory, working to achieve that project that has been presented to me,” he said.
“Happy. The people have made the adaptation to the club easier, the availability of all those things has made me made feel at home; that is the most important thing.
“I came here because of the ambitious projects they have to think higher, to win international championships, why not fight to be champions.
“The situation is a little complex due to the bad results we have obtained, but it is not worrying; we know that there is talent, good quality to reverse the situation and there is still a lot of fabric left to cut.”
