Everton star James Rodríguez has shared his annoyance at the Blues dropping two points against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side hosted the Eagles at Goodison Park on Monday evening, looking to take advantage of results over the weekend to give their top-four hopes a boost.

Everton appeared to be on course for all three points after Rodríguez’s superb strike, his 100th in European football, in the 56th minute had given them a well-deserved lead.

It was not something they could build on, though, and that ultimately cost them, with substitute Michy Batshuayi levelling in the 86th minute to Everton’s great frustration.

The result put a huge dent in their hopes of securing European football next season and left all those in blue deeply frustrated at their failure to take their chances.

That was certainly the case for Rodríguez, who revealed his feelings about the result on his Twitch channel, relayed by the Colombian edition of MARCA.

“I’m happy because I played well; I felt good and physically well,” he said.

“I’m happy for the goal, but we should have won. We got a very silly equaliser at the end.

“That match we played on Monday, we had to win it, we are giving a lot of chances to the other teams.

“I also scored 100 goals in the old continent, also my position which is midfielder. To reach 100 goals in Europe is a great achievement. I’m very happy about that.”
