It appears that Wolverhampton Wanderers have won the game of chicken with Napoli when it comes to Max Kilman.
The English centre-back was targeted by the Serie A side to replace Kim Min-jae, with the Serie A club making an initial offer of €35m, which was rejected by Wolves.
Julen Lopetegui’s side wanted at least €40m for their star, who has grown from strength to strength over the past season or so, and this has forced Napoli to move on, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italians were hoping that Wolves would eventually lower their demands, but with previous sales already going through, the need for money at Molineux was no longer as great as it was prior to the transfer window starting.
This allowed the Premier League side to stand firm, and Gazzetta explain they have now switched their attention to Lens’ Kevin Danso.
Therefore, unless something drastic changes at Molineux, or Napoli change their mind about meeting the asking price, Kilman looks set to stay in England.
