It appears Wolverhampton Wanderers are very likely to end up with Faouzi Ghoulam on their books.
The idea has been touted for a couple of weeks now, with Napoli wanting to get rid of the Algeria international, calling on his agent, a certain Jorge Mendes, to find a suitable landing spot for the left-back.
Wolves were automatically brought into the mix, such is the agent’s influence at Molineux, and now it’s simply a matter of getting him there.
It seems that, with the player suffering from injuries and setbacks over the past couple of seasons, those in charge at the Premier League club are unwilling to spend any money on him, which is why he, much like others around Europe, is trying to free himself from his current contract to facilitate a move.
That’s what Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Thursday, claiming the defender is in a ‘friendly tug of war’ with Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s owner, to get a ‘lavish severance pay’.
As for Wolves, they are said to be ‘willing to take Ghoulam’.
The newspaper explain ‘it’s always a matter of pounds’ when it comes to this stuff, and we’ll have to see just how generous De Laurentiis ends up being.
