Rafa Silva has been repeatedly linked with a move to Wolves, with the pieces slotting into place for the Portuguese media to have made a big fuss about the potential transfer in the run up to the January window.

Record and others pushed the idea of Rafa moving to Wolves ahead of the winter market, with the soon to be Premier League club the ones most named as the player’s future was repeatedly discussed.

The idea was for Rafa to move initially on loan and try to recover the form and promise which had made Benfica sign him from SC Braga. Not getting enough minutes at the Lisbon club, Rafa would have joined Wolves and hopefully had a similar rebirth to that enjoyed by Ruben Neves.

It didn’t come off, and since then Rafa has managed to become more prominent at Benfica. He’s not only getting many more minutes, gone from sometimes even being out of the squad to now starting games, but is also having an impact and has contributed goals and assists in the second half of the season.

This is all very bad news for any lingering Wolves interest, with it being likely Benfica would now snub a loan and if the English wanted to sign Rafa permanently… the price will have shot up.
