On November 10th, Sport explained that new Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui has set his sights on signing the Real Madrid duo Nacho and Mariano Díaz.

The defender has been at the La Liga side throughout his playing career and his deal with them expires at the end of this season.

AS on Friday explains Wolves are one of the European clubs that ‘want him’. Lopetegui’s presence at Molineux may provide an edge for the Premier League side.

The ex-Sevilla coach has managed the Spaniard when he was at Los Blancos’ academy and then with the national team. He also had Nacho under his orders with Real Madrid’s senior team in 2018.

Apart from Wolves, AC Milan and AS Roma are also interested in Nacho’s situation. These three sides must battle it out against MLS sides for the 32-year-old’s signature.

It’s claimed that Nacho, who will turn 33 years of age in January, has received a call from MLS. Unnamed American clubs are very interested in taking his services in the winter market.

Amid interest from Wolves and other clubs, Nacho’s firm desire is to earn a new deal at the Bernabéu. If Real Madrid were to not offer him an extension, the centre-back will be forced to find a new club next summer.
