Valencia’s local media assumed at the start of the summer that Goncalo Guedes would have moved back to the club by now.
The Portuguese attacker spent last season on loan in Spain and did well enough that a permanent move was considered very likely.
But Valencia haven’t found PSG to be as accommodating as they’d hoped. The French club weren’t blind to Guedes kickstarting his career in Spain and they clearly see no reason to send him back to Valencia at below market value.
Last week, L’Equipe brought Wolves into the equation and this has irritated those who report on Valencia. The French newspaper explained that PSG want €60m, Valencia only want to pay €40m, and whilst a permanent transfer is the priority a loan could be possible as the window grows older.
The way it was presented showed that PSG are now looking more towards the English market, which would help Wolves. L’Equipe stated Guedes ‘will not be sold to Valencia this summer’, because they ‘can’t afford’ him.
It’s ‘only Valencia’ who the footballer is prepared to sign for.
Whilst there’s clearly some reality in that, Valencia don’t hold all the cards here. PSG do, they own the player.
Super Deporte have mixed the reality of Guedes’ wishes with hope that everything hangs on them.
