Earlier today, we covered the quotes from Salernitana director Morgan De Sanctis, who made strong comments about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ attempt to sign Boulaye Dia back in the summer.

The club chief claimed that the offer was ‘inadmissible and insulting’, making it clear that Wolves were never close to getting that late transfer done.

It turns out that as journalist Gianluigi Longari now features an editorial piece on Sport Italia, he brings some interesting information on Dia’s future.

He wrote: “Among the players who are on the market, Dia and Mazzocchi stand out. The former wanted to say goodbye already in the summer, and if a club presented a more concrete proposal than Wolverhampton’s summer one, it would be considered.”

Back in the summer, the Italian reports claimed that Wolves made an offer to sign the 27-year-old on a loan deal, paying €2m for the spell. Then they’d have the option to buy him for another €18m.

It remains to be seen whether the Molineux side are still interested in that operation, although it now looks like they could even get a bigger chance in the middle of the season.

Despite struggling with a couple of injuries, Dia has shown decent numbers this season so far, with four goals in 11 appearances. The striker is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €22m.
