Just yesterday, we were covering a report from A Bola saying João Carvalho’s move out of Benfica would be more unlikely now.

The player has been getting more minutes at the Lisbon side, and that would frustrate the clubs who want him, with Wolves said to be included.

And today, newspaper Record brings a story with a few more details about the case, claiming that the Benfica manager Rui Vitória has ‘held’ the player.

The outlet claims Carvalho ‘wasn’t ruling out a departure’ in the January market to play more, but the manager has convinced him to have patience at the club, giving him confidence and saying his time will come.

The promise was fulfiled, with Carvalho getting decent minutes in the past month, and that’s the reason why the rumours of a departure, to Wolves or anywhere else, have been shut down lately.

But as we’ve learned not to doubt Wolves this season, let’s wait and see if they don’t have enough arguments to convince Carvalho to move.
