Wolverhampton Wanderers are yet to pay Barcelona the €6m penalty for not signing winger Trincao on a permanent basis this summer.
Trincao spent last season on loan at Molineux, with Wolves paying an initial €6m to sign him on loan from Barcelona.
That deal included an option for them to make it permanent for €30m but they elected not to take it up after the youngster managed just three goals and one assist in 30 appearances.
He was sent back to the Camp Nou, much to the disappointment of the Catalans, who had been hoping for the funds to ease their tight financial situation.
It was later explained that another clause in the deal stated Wolves would have to pay €6m as a penalty for not signing the winger permanently, but it appears that is yet to be sent.
AS report on Barcelona’s finances today, explaining how the club still owes €128m to various clubs around Europe.
This is set to be detailed in a financial report at next week’s members’ meeting, but this report also details the amount the club still have to collect.
They say that €6m is still owed by Wolves, who are yet to pay a ‘loan fee’ of that figure for Trincao’s loan deal last season.
That figure, plus the €6m they already paid in the initial loan deal, means they’ll eventually end up paying €12m for a player who was nowhere near worth that figure in a transfer that looks more controversial by the day.
