With Matheus Nunes back on training at Sporting, the Portuguese media has been full of stories about him, especially with so many rumours about his potential departure.

It’s been months since Wolverhampton Wanderers started being linked to the midfielder, and today, we get to see that the Molineux side have not given up the signing.

Newspaper Record, however, today writes that Sporting manager Ruben Amorim ‘convinced’ the player to stay at the club, at least in the current market scenario.

The outlet points out Nunes is ‘very well referenced’ in Europe’s top leagues, linked to the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea, but none of them have made an actual move.

Record claims there’s only one club who have an ‘offer ready’, and that’s Wolves.

Bruno Lage’s side are said to be the only who ‘officially manifested’ the interest in showing up with a bid.

But it’s claimed that even though Nunes doesn’t close the door to an exit, his wish is for a more ‘ambitious project’, and that hasn’t shown up for him so far.

That could mean two things for Wolves: either they’re indeed ruled out by the 23-year-old, who’d rather stay at Sporting, or they will stand alone in the race and the player could see himself with no other option but to accept the move to Molineux.
