Even though Ruben Neves continues being an important player for Wolverhampton Wanderers, he hasn’t been involved in as many transfer rumours this summer as he was last year.
The midfielder started in every single game for his club in the Premier League in the season just finished, and Wolves fans should now have one more reason to believe he’s staying at Molineux for longer.
The 23-year-old was interviewed by Portuguese outlet SIC Notícias this week. Speaking from the national team camp, he claimed he’s not thinking about leaving Wolverhampton anytime soon.
“My interest is to stay at Wolverhampton. I feel happy, my family is happy, so my head remains at Wolves,” Neves told SIC Notícias.
Neves was also asked about Wolves’ season, and despite taking positive things from this year at the club, he claims they couldn’t reach their goals.
“It was an atypical season in all aspects. First, because of that unexpected stop. Then because we scored more points than last year, but in the end we didn’t achieve what we wanted.
“But I still have a positive balance of the season, because the Premier League is extremely difficult, extremely competitive, and we managed to score more points than last year. We also reached the quarter-finals in the Europa League in the first year the team played in it.”
Ruben Neves is expected to feature in Portugal’s next two games in the Nations League, as they face Croatia on Saturday and Sweden on Tuesday.
Following his move from Porto in 2017, the midfielder already has 136 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
