When Rui Patricio went down injured against Liverpool on Monday evening, there was immediate concern from all watching.

It hasn’t been so long since Raul Jimenez picked up a serious head injury, and it was natural for the worry to be that similar had happened again.

In the goalkeeper’s own country, the concern was fully shared. Wolves have received huge coverage in Portugal for several years, and Patricio himself is much loved in the country for his exploits with the Portuguese national team.

Therefore, the media worked to get word from Wolves that everything is fine, even after the Premier League club had already reassured their own supporters that Patricio hadn’t been badly hurt.

Wednesday’s edition of O Jogo carries an article on the player, and it’s stated a Wolves source has ‘guaranteed’ that everything is fine. It’s stated Patricio was well by the stage he went home, and that he’s being monitored by club staff out of an abundance of precaution.

This message has also got through to Portugal manager Fernando Santos, who has picked the Wolves player in his squad for the upcoming internationals.
