According to Sabah journalist Mehmet Ozcan, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Eljero Elia from Turkish club Basaksehir.

Wolves last month secured promotion to the Premier League and are expected to be busy in this transfer window as they look to bolster their squad.

Ozcan has spoken to Sporx about the latest transfer developments in Turkey and claimed Wolves are interested in signing Elia this summer. “I can confirm that Wolverhampton are showing interest for Elia.

“No official talks have taken place but he could leave the club during the summer. The player is happy in Turkey but a move could be tempting.”

The Turkish journalist didn’t mention any specific price that Basaksehir want for Elia but he said developments with Wolves are likely in the coming weeks.

It seems Wolves want to bring in a left sided attacker this summer and they’ve already been linked with Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa.

The Dutch winger, who had a brief spell with Southampton joined Basaksehir from Feyenoord last summer for a fee in the region of €1.5m. The 31 year old played a key role in Basaksehir’s title-chasing season, scoring 8 goals in 32 games for the club.

That form has seen Elia return to the international set-up and he’s in Ronald Koeman’s current Netherlands squad.
