With Sporting and Wolverhampton Wanderers playing a friendly match on Saturday, there’s just no way the Portuguese media wouldn’t relate this game to Matheus Nunes, who’s reportedly been chased by the Molineux side for a long time now.
It turns out newspaper Correio da Manhã found the perfect story about it, because according to their information, the encounter will work as a ‘last move’ from Wolves to sign the midfielder.
They say Bruno Lage’s side made an offer worth €45m plus €5m to land Nunes. Even though the payment details weren’t discussed, the amount ‘pleased’ Sporting, who wanted to carry on with the sale.
There was a five-year contract with the table and a salary worth €2.2m per season. However, the player chose to ‘wait’ for clubs who are featuring in the Champions League, but offers from such clubs haven’t arrived yet.
So Correio da Manhã writes that tomorrow’s game will work as a new encounter between all parties. It’s said that despite Sporting’s wish to keep the player, they know it’d be ‘hard’ to resist Wolves’ effort.
Even though Champions League sides such as Liverpool and Manchester City have also been linked to Nunes, the newspaper makes it clear that only the Molineux side made an offer for him this summer.
