We started the day today with reports from the Portuguese media claiming that Lille midfielder Renato Sanches was close to a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

When checking the story, Sport Witness managed to find out that the transfer was unlikely, as the player was expected to stay at his current club.

Now it seems the media from Sanches’ home country is changing their stance as well, because according to the latest reports, the move has collapsed.

It was first Radio Renascença who reported it. They managed to confirm via their sources at Wolves that the club had been negotiating a loan deal and ended giving up on the signing.

Something very similar is claimed by Mais Futebol. They say the clubs had been negotiating a loan deal and could not agree the price for the buying option.

According to their story, the French side wanted over €30m for the permanent move. Wolves didn’t accept that, and the negotiations ‘finished without white smoke’.
