Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the clubs interested in signing Tigres defender Carlos Salcedo, according to claims from Mexico.
It’s outlet Medio Tiempo who comes up with a story saying a few sides have been lining up to take the 28-year-old this month.
Wolves are the only one trying to bring him to Europe, while the competitors are Toronto FC from Canada and Palmeiras from Brazil.
Medio Tiempo writes there’s been a ‘soap opera’ surrounding the player since he asked to leave Tigres, even though no offers have reached the club so far.
It’s said the Mexican side initially demanded at least US$8m (£5.9m) to let him go, but now they’re said to have dropped the price and would accept a minimum of US$4m (£3m).
That’s of course little money to Wolves or any Premier League side, while it’s also fair to say that they’d have better conditions than the competitors from overseas for this signing. Medio Tiempo adds that Palmeiras are analysing the chances of offering only US$2.5m (£1.85m).
That’s all the information the Mexican media have for now, although several outlets cover the rumour with excitement, as Salcedo could join national team hero Raul Jimenez at Molineux.
