Due to Jonny Otto’s injury, Wolverhampton Wanderers went looking on the transfer market for a new left-back.
Faouzi Ghoulam, managed by Jorge Mendes, was linked for a bit, but in the end, it was Lyon’s Marçal who was signed.
That was always going to be a short-term option seeing as the Brazilian is 31 years of age, and it appears the Premier League club are also trying to secure a longer term signing in Rayan Aït Nouri.
The 19-year-old, also advised by Mendes, has been a possible departure for SCO Angers this entire transfer window, with his manager explaining there were ‘chances’ his player could leave.
According to RMC Sport, two clubs are in ‘good position to welcome him: Valencia and Wolverhampton’.
Those are two clubs with close affiliations to the Portuguese super agent, but the French outlet do point out it’s Wolves who ‘appear to have the lead’.
They’re described as being ‘in pole’ to sign him, although there are no numbers attached to this, so we don’t know how much Aït Nouri would go for.
With three years left on his contract, however, and Angers knowing full well how talented he could end up being, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a relatively hefty fee with a percentage of a future sale attached to it.
That’s just us speculating, but it would make the most sense for the Ligue 1 side, who will be facing Paris Saint-Germain on Friday evening for what could end up being the youngster’s final game for his current club.
