Tuesday’s edition of El Periódico Mediterráneo backs up the forward’s desire to join the La Liga side when covering their plans for the winter market.
Villarreal manager Marcelino hasn’t been able to rely upon Gerard Moreno for most of this season. At the weekend, Ilias Akhomach sustained a serious injury blow.
The Yellow Submarine could look for a new attacker in January, depending on Moreno’s condition. The Wolves player has been floated as an option, considering the manager and the club are well aware of him.
Guedes, who previously played under Marcelino at Valencia, spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal. The newspaper states he ‘would be delighted’ to return to the club in January.
The Portuguese has struggled for regular game time this season as he’s been limited to 279 minutes of action from 10 games. His deal lasts until 2027, but Gary O’Neil’s side are open to letting the player leave next year.
It’s claimed Wolves want to sell Guedes and this clashes with Villarreal, who want to take him on a loan deal. Marcelino’s side could change their stance if the situation with their injured players, especially Moreno, doesn’t improve.
