The Eredivisie hasn’t been a bad finishing school for Premier League clubs in recent years.

Jarrad Branthwaite developed well at PSV and is now one of Everton’s best players. Last season, Newcastle United sent Yankuba Minteh to Feyenoord and he did so well they were able to get around £30m from Brighton this summer.

It’s also to Feyenoord that Wolves have sent Hugo Bueno.

The 21-year-old joined Wolves in 2019, working through their academy and trying to breakthrough and become a regular first team player.

Last season he made 25 appearances for Wolves, although those were mainly as a substitute. Now he’ll want to use his experience at Feyenoord to step up a level and be ready to become a regular starter in the Premier League or elsewhere.

1908.nl quote him as saying:  “When I knew this opportunity was there, I knew I had to take it. Feyenoord is a massive club. The supporters are great, and you are constantly fighting for the prizes here. I like that.

“As a player, you sometimes need new challenges. Playing in the Champions League at a big club, those were important reasons for me to choose Feyenoord. This felt like the right thing.”

Bueno then described himself for Feyenoord supporters who may not have heard of him before the transfer links started: “I can play on the whole left side. Of course, left back is a defensive position, but I like to contribute in attack the most. I hope to create a lot of chances for the team. Make good moves and be important when scoring goals.

“I talked to the coach about the 3-4-3 system. He needs someone who can bring something extra to the attack. Hopefully I can play there and show what I can do.”

The youngster has a contract with Wolves until June 2028.
