The Portuguese media today features many stories on the future of Fabio Silva, who seems to be on his way out of Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Newspaper O Jogo writes the player is ‘close’ to signing for Anderlecht on a loan deal. He’s set to move on a one-year spell with no option for a permanent move.
According to the outlet, there’s no agreement between the clubs yet, and Wolves will only announce the loan once they get to renew Silva’s contract for one more season, making it run until 2026.
Another subject the Portuguese media has been talking about is the striker’s potential return to Porto, which was apparently never a possibility for him this summer.
Newspaper Record writes a return to the Dragons was ‘never on the horizon’, since the hypothesis wasn’t on the table. They point out the player is looking for a club where he can ‘give new impetus to his career’, and Anderlecht seems the perfect place for that.
Meanwhile, outlet A Bola goes a little harder on that subject. They claim Silva’s return to the Dragons wasn’t considered because of his public criticism towards club manager Sérgio Conceição and his comments about their debts with him, both made after he joined Wolves. That’s why, despite making €40m from his sale, Porto weren’t interested in having him back, and he needed to go somewhere else.
