Algeria manager Djamel Belmadi has included Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Aït-Nouri in the squad for two friendlies against Cabo Verde and Egypt this month.

Last weekend, Gary O’Neil’s side had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa and the left-back was substituted after the break.

The Wolves player hasn’t joined the national team camp so far and the Algerian football association have confirmed on their official website that they are ‘waiting for news’ about him.

According to La Gazette du Fennec, the 22-year-old will miss the ongoing international break after the Premier League side made the decision to keep him back.

The fullback is said to have picked up a concussion against Unai Emery’s side and that resulted in his substitution.

The report points out the concussion protocol in England is ‘quite strict’ and then states Wolves’ medical team have informed the Algerian FA that the defender is ‘not fit to travel’. Therefore, he will not be involved in the national team’s upcoming friendlies.

Aït-Nouri made his debut for Alegria earlier this year and has made three appearances for them.

Wolves face AFC Bournemouth next weekend and whether Aït-Nouri will be available for selection remains unclear, although it seems likely.
