Portugal saw themselves eliminated from Euro 2020 on Sunday evening, losing 1-0 to Belgium.

Thorgan Hazard scored the winning goal just before half-time, and despite changing their tactics to play more attacking in the second-half, Portugal couldn’t find an equaliser.

The goal was a worthy one to win any match, with Hazard managing to get enough curve on his shot that, when combined with the speed, deceived goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

After the goal, and the match, the general consensus seemed to be the Wolves stopper didn’t do a great deal wrong, with credit going to the striker of the ball instead.

L’Equipe, who always like to be harsh, see things differently. They’ve labelled Patricio a ‘flop’ of the match and awarded the Wolves player just 3/10 for his performance in the game.

They state the Wolves player was too ‘stuck on his line’ and they claim this is often an issue with Patricio.

After a good performance against France, links to AS Roma were further encouraged in the Italian sport media. It remains to be seen whether this incident will bring out their fickleness.
