Late last week, Luis Enrique announced his Spain squad for the international break, and in it was a first time call-up for Wolverhampton’s Jonny.
Loaned by Atlético Madrid for the season, the full-back revealed in an interview for Radio Marca before the weekend that he would be present with his national team despite being on the verge of becoming a father.
Well, that happened a few hours ago, and it’s the Spain national team who have announced the Wolverhampton defender will be allowed to take the day off to go see his newborn before joining his teammates on Tuesday for training.
This means he misses a day of preparation ahead of the friendly against Wales next Thursday, but it’s probably not something he’s thinking about right now.
The defender has played a key part in Wolverhampton’s early season form, once again helping his team out over the weekend, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side picked up three points, beating Crystal Palace 1-0.
